My First Swamp Tour
What do alligators and raccoons have in common? Their love for marshmallows! Yup! Who would have thought?!? Just one of the many random things that I learned on my Cajun Pride Swamp Tour!
The tour was not only educational, but also interesting and engaging for all ages! Our tour guide, Captain Allen was so charming and funny! It was also surprising relaxing as we leisurely moved along the swamp. The weather was perfect, around 75 degrees with low humidity and a breeze, so it was extremely comfortable and NO mosquitoes! I would highly recommend going during the spring before it gets too hot and humid or in the fall when its cool.
I truly left with a different perception of the swamps and alligators. I was really surprised by how soft the alligator's skin was when I held him! I was expecting his skin to be really tough. I almost had a heart attack right after this photo was taken though! We were taking turns holding the alligator and passing him down and I was the last person holding him. I told Captain Allen and he came over-I thought he was going to take the alligator from me, but instead he took the tape off of his mouth...while I was still holding him...and walked away! Joking "hang on to him for a minute while I finish the tour" *insert big eyes and jaw drop* I literally heard people on the boat gasp! LOL But the alligator did not move and was relaxed and no one got hurt! lol Proof that they are not nearly as vicious as their reputation. Captain Allen attributes their viciousness to "human stupidity" LOL I felt pretty bad ass and courageous after it was all said and done! Just wish I would have been calm enough to request a picture with the tape off the gator's mouth! Then I could really have bragging rights! Its definitely a GEAUX!!! Check out more pictures below!
