Identifying Early Warning Signs of Abusive Behavior
Domestic Violence Awareness Month, or DVAM, is observed every year throughout the month of October. Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) evolved from the "Day of Unity" held in October 1981 and conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children.
I had the opportunity to chat with Stephanie Love-Patterson, Associate Director at Connections for Abused Women and their Children , regarding Domestic Violence Awareness and seeking help for yourself and loved ones. Check out this interview to learn what is defined as domestic violence (physical, emotional and psychological) and some potential early warning signs to look for that may be early indicators of abusive behavior.
